In the middle of August, the painting began. There were still some windows and doors not finished yet. The plumbing was also behind and a lot of other things were delayed. The school was to be commissioned at the beginning of September but was postponed severally since the workers could not keep to the date that was agreed on.
On September 26th 2021 was the day the school was commissioned. A lot of things were not finished but the show must go on. Some of the classrooms needed to be decorated and prepared for viewing by the guests. The school was advertised on the radio and social media. We began by giving details about the school such as why the name was chosen, the aim and mission as well as the future plans for it. We also explained that the building still had some things to be done and they understood. Due to the Covid things were delayed and we needed to adhere to the rules put in place. Since we wanted to open the school before the academic year began a lot of things needed to be sorted out before the academic year began in January 2022.
Construction was still ongoing after the commissioning. In November 2021, some friends and family members help to advertise the school by going from house to house talking about the school and giving them flyers. Some were really happy that a new school was close to their home and they can avoid the traffic every morning and evening.
In December, we got a lot of visits from potential parents who still wanted clarification on the school and what we offering. It all went well and then the furniture we all put in the various classrooms, as well as teachers, were hired. The staff we introduced to each other and then took a tour of the building what facilities were available and how to use them since some were in the German language. We still have a lot of work to be done. the next floors have to begin soon for the older kids as well.
